In recent years, domestic food safety issues have been quite severe, and food safety has become a concern for the public. The use of silicone tubes in food applications is significant; do you know the lifespan of food-grade silicone tubes? There are three reasons for the aging of food-grade silicone tubes:
1. External environmental factors: These mainly include oxygen, oxides, ozone, heat, light, radiation, mechanical fatigue, and deficiencies in the processing process. The impact of ozone is increasing. With the increase of ozone in the atmosphere, the chemical activity of ozone strengthens, and its destructiveness increases, causing molecular chains to break. The impact of ozone on food-grade silicone tubes is significant, and ozone mainly acts on deformed silicone rubber, leading to ozone cracking.
Oxidation is also a factor in the aging of silicone. Oxygen interacts with silicone molecules in rubber, causing aging, breaking molecular chains, and altering the properties of silicone.
Additionally, silicone is easily damaged in humid conditions, during rain, or when submerged in water. Especially in cases of water immersion and atmospheric exposure, the aging of food-grade silicone tubes is accelerated.
2. Internal structural factors: These mainly include the type of rubber, molding methods, degree of bonding, types of additives, and factors in the processing engineering.
